Non-breaking hyphen bug or feature?

With Word 12.2.4, I notice that when text with non-breaking hyphens is
copied into a plain-text editor, the hyphens are left out. This is a
problem when a news release is submitted to a Web site, for example, and
the release is displayed without the hyphens.
I guess there is no way around this except not to ...

Save changes to Normal template ?

If one makes a style change in a Word doc created by someone else,
and then on save or quit is presented with the dialog asking if you want
to save it to normal.dotm,
is the normal.dotm your template or is there a normal template of the
creator attached to the doc you received?

critical downloads for Word refuses to install
