how shall I install Personal Web Server or IIS on XP home? If I have XP-Pro disk will IIS install from this disk onto XP-home ?
That is an unsupported installation, but a search will find you some info. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3A*&q=iis+on+xp+home&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g2 "aa" wrote in message news:OuF4OXk%23JHA.4944@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > how shall I install Personal Web Server or IIS on XP home? > If I have XP-Pro disk will IIS install from this disk onto XP-home ? > >
XP Home doesn't support it. "aa" wrote in message news:OuF4OXk%23JHA.4944@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... : how shall I install Personal Web Server or IIS on XP home? : If I have XP-Pro disk will IIS install from this disk onto XP-home ? : :

The short answer is you shan't, because IIS is not supported on XP Home and will not install from the XP Pro CD. The longer answer is, there are hacks, but they are not supported and you're on your own; there are other web servers that *will* install on XP Home. Another longer answer is that you can often purchase a used XP Pro box, with a valid license, for around CDN$150. HTH -pk
