I'm running XP Home edition with SG3 installed. When I print from the web it takes approximately 10 seconds for the print dialog box to appear after selecting Ctrl P and then another 30 seconds before the print job reaches the printer. I'm using a couple different HP printers (Laserjet 1100 and 1200) but it does not seem to make much differnece. Printing is a little faster if I'm printing from another application such as Word or Notepad. But all in all it seems to me that my printing is a little on the slow side. I'm running Internet Explorer 7 and have 384MB of RAM with over 50% of free space on my 40GB hard drive.
There are several factors that can slow things down. Among them: Using a USB 1.0 port instead of USB 2 384MB of RAM (This is a bit of an odd figure, unless the video system uses system ram instead of dedicated video memory) 500Meg or 1Gig of RAM usually speeds things up a bit. There is a formatting operation that takes place to convert the IE web based html document to a printer ready document. This can take a bit of time. You may find that specific settings such as RAW in the printer driver affect speed for better or worse.
