Our story begins in a modest machine Shop in Baltimore, run by two young and bright-eyed entrepreneurs,S.Duncan Black and Alonzo G. Decker. Since then, their names have grown into the household brand you know today, delivering honest products and being steadfastly focused on customer needs.
 BLACK+DECKER introduces the world’s first portable electric drill for consumers. The company launches a Home Utility line of drills and accessories. The DIY revolution begins.  BLACK+DECKER develops a cordless, minimum-torque space tool for NASA astronauts to use under weightless conditions on Project Gemini.  BLACK+DECKER introduces the world’s first motion-activated screwdriver with the Gyro™ Rechargeable Screwdriver. The tool senses a user’s motion, providing outstanding control and variable speed.
