Graffiti Legends: The Art of LA2 offers a vibrant look into the work of Angel Ortiz, the renowned New York City graffiti artist better known as LA2. A self-taught artist who began tagging the streets of Manhattan’s Lower East Side as a child, Ortiz quickly gained recognition for his signature “LA2” tag. His energetic linework and bold aesthetic led to collaborations with some of the most celebrated artists of the 1980s, including Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Our April 15 auction highlights a dynamic selection of LA2’s work across various media, from
canvases to artfully adorned found objects including racing helmets, vases,
musical instruments and street signage.

On May 2, during our Illustration Art Signature® Auction, we are pleased to offer a special selection of works from the Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons exhibition organized by New York’s AFA Gallery that traveled across North America for over a decade. Each is a piece of Sendak’s world and a bridge back to childhood. Here, the iconic characters endure, as does the legacy of the artist himself, crossing time and space with singular, timeless magic. Highlights include final poster art for the
Brooklyn Children’s Museum and the John F. Kennedy Center, as well as a set design concept painting for the 1982 Glyndebourne Festival production of The Love for Three Oranges.

The Dallas Art Fair’s mission is to promote the appreciation of the arts in Dallas, bringing together emerging and established talent with enthusiastic collectors. We have enjoyed previewing highlights of upcoming auctions within the Fine Art Services booth since the fair began in 2009, introducing collectors to the secondary market. At this year’s fair, which takes place April 10-13, we’ll be showcasing works from our April 22 Prints & Multiples auction, our April 29-30
Photographs Auction and our May 13 Modern & Contemporary Art auction. You can also find us at EXPO CHICAGO from April 24-27. The 12th annual contemporary art fair takes place at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

Website Tips: Bid Protection
|
Bid Protection allows you to ensure you are not outbid by automatically increasing your bid to the next full increment if you are outbid during the live event. This protects you from being "sniped" by a single increment. Bid Protection can be entered on all items except the current lot and the next upcoming lot in a Live Auction.
Note: The extra increment won't be placed until the item is up for live bidding, so it is possible that you could be outbid by a bid placed prior to live bidding, such as another proxy bid, live proxy bid, mail bid, etc., which could result in your losing the lot by that one increment. For the same reason, it is also possible that a currently losing bid with bid protection placed could potentially win the lot once the lot is subject to live bidding and the Bid Protection increment(s) is placed.
