Our RETNA Prints and Works on Paper Part I Showcase Auction, which takes place February 27, features an impressive grouping of prints, paintings and
works on paper
directly from the studio of RETNA, the celebrated Los Angeles-based street artist. Born Marquis Lewis, RETNA has gained international recognition for his unique visual language, often described as a fusion of hieroglyphics, calligraphy and typography. RETNA’s work has transformed public spaces with striking murals and extended his influence into the worlds of fashion and design through collaborations with major fashion houses and global brands, solidifying his status as one of the most influential contemporary artists of our time.

On February 2, the art world lost one of its great visual storytellers. Mort Künstler, a New York native who went from illustrating action-packed scenes for adventure magazines to becoming one of the most respected artists of American history, passed away at the age of 97. A man of remarkable talent and boundless curiosity, Künstler was more than just an artist – he was a force of nature and a keen observer of humanity. In the most recent issue of Intelligent Collector, our Vice President of American Art, Aviva Lehmann,
looks back on her friendship with the artist and the legacy he leaves behind.

Our March 5 Urban Art Showcase Auction includes an array of works from artists such as RETNA, Mr. Brainwash,
Shepard Fairey and KAWS
. Also featured is a special collection from Dr. Lauren Levy. Dr. Levy has been an avid collector of vinyl toys for over two decades, starting with Dunnies, Bounty Hunter figures and works by artists like KAWS, James Jarvis and Frank Kozik. Dr. Levy’s passion for collecting was inspired by her mother, a contemporary British art collector who was drawn to KAWS and encouraged her daughter to seek out his work. Highlights include the KAWS collab with Star Wars, the
Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket figures
and the selection of Chums.

Dan Kennedy was a beloved collector of minerals, revered for his love of the natural world and his genuine affection for those who shared his interest as much as for the specimens that made up his remarkable collection. He did not pursue lots just to fill up a display case; instead, he sought out the largest and finest specimens — more than 200 of which will be made available to collectors everywhere when they are offered at Heritage in The Dan Kennedy Collection of Fine Minerals Part 1 Signature® Auction

Website Tips: Bid Protection
|
Bid Protection allows you to ensure you are not outbid by automatically increasing your bid to the next full increment if you are outbid during the live event. This protects you from being "sniped" by a single increment. Bid Protection can be entered on all items except the current lot and the next upcoming lot in a Live Auction.
Note: The extra increment won't be placed until the item is up for live bidding, so it is possible that you could be outbid by a bid placed prior to live bidding, such as another proxy bid, live proxy bid, mail bid, etc., which could result in your losing the lot by that one increment. For the same reason, it is also possible that a currently losing bid with bid protection placed could potentially win the lot once the lot is subject to live bidding and the Bid Protection increment(s) is placed.
