Tobias Dostal has cemented himself as one of the most consistent magic creators of recent memory. Each creation is imbued with his signature sense of whimsy and imagination.
Take Repo, his latest production with Murphy's Magic. This key and chain routine is halfway between a magic trick and visual art.
Starting with a key, you then make a chain appear from thin air. Similar to a linking rings routine, you melt the key directly onto the chain. You can unlink and relink them at will. But you've never seen linking rings do this. At a moment's notice, have the chain and key switch places. Then the key vanishes. Then reappears. You never know what's coming next.
For your finale, place the chain around a spectator's wrist with the key linked. Rip the key from the chain and make it vanish again. Finally toss the vanished key in the air and have it reappear on the chain that is still on their wrist. They will even feel it appear.
This is a special breed of magic that almost defies words. It's something that you have to see to believe. And once you see it, you'll never forget it.
