Naming a card has never been so literal
Magic and mentalism combine to make one of the most devastating effects to come out in years. This is Name Dropper by John Graham.
Let's set the scene. You have a deck of cards and a packet of prediction cards. On the back of the prediction cards, you can see they have quotation marks printed on them. Those are set aside.
Have your spectator cut the deck and to name a special person in their life, lets say, "John."
The name will come into play soon, but for now, you need to figure out the card they cut to. You start looking through the deck, explaining that every card will tell you a little more about their chosen card. You joke that "this card tells me your card is either red or black."
For the big reveal, you get them to say their chosen name again. You can tell by their voice now what their card was. After they say "John," you tell them their card was the four of clubs.
That's not where the magic stops, though. You take the prediction packet and lay the first quotation mark down. The next card say "J", then "O", then "H", "N", and it's closed out with one more quote.
John knocked it out of the park with
Name Dropper. This effect is that perfect mix of
unpredictable and unexplainable, with multiple magic moments, and a momentum that carries through the effect. It's no surprise that he wrote on the
best books on card magic. Name Dropper even instantly resets and can be performed immediately using a
new chosen card and name!
