Over the last few years there has been concerted effort between all Tactical gear producers in Australia to design a camouflage that was compatible with the AMCU pattern used by ADF without crossing any copyright lines.
In 2023, the R&D team at Valhalla designed a new camouflage (AMC-C) that would be cohesive with the current AMCU camouflage pattern. Something they didn’t consider was the colour fastness of the high-quality nylon materials used for tactical gear (packs, pouches etc), While the new pattern was cohesive with a new set of cams. Over time the new ADF uniform would fade significantly leaving the AMCU compatible materials looking too bright. As some have said “Stands out like dog’s balls”.
So, in early 2024 it was back to the design room where the R&D and graphics team worked with the textile mill to take it to the next level. We re-designed the print by sampling the colour from a well-used and faded set of AMCU cams to match suitable values from the pantone colour chart. Our results? A camouflage pattern that blends seamlessly with the in-use combat uniform.
Valhalla has now released AU Multi-Terrain believed to be the most compatible camouflage for use with the current ADF uniform.
